7 of Clubs Mikael Nawzad: Connecticut’s Unsolved Mysteries

Connecticut law enforcement agencies created a deck of playing cards featuring 52 unsolved mysteries in the state. Most are murders, others are missing persons. At least 3 of the 52 have been solved so far. The 7 of Clubs, Mikael Nawzad (or Nawzad Mikael depending on the news agency) has not.

Mikael Nawzad

The 28-year old from Ansonia, CT was working part-time in the Barnum News & Variety convenience store in Bridgeport. He was filling in for the store owner on January 27, 2001 when a gunman attempted to rob the store. Mikael gave the man the $67 from the cash register. Perhaps disappointed that was all there was, it’s possible the killer asked for more.  Mikael reached for a cigar box that held more cash under the register. Thinking he was reaching for a gun, Mikael was gunned down. None of the money from the cigar box was taken.

Almost 11 years later, still no suspects.
